Day 3

First when we got to Cox Arboretum we went on a hunt for 5 different types of tree's, here are our finding's.

First we have a Blue Spruce.

Next we have a Maple.

Next is an Austrian Pine.

Next is a Long Leave Pine.

And finally we have an oak tree.

After our tree adventure we were allowed to walk around the park and find things that we found interesting. Me and my group of friends looked around the trails and walked around the majority of the park. The most interesting thing I saw today was the butterfly room (which has not been put into action yet unfortunately. Inside this room there was all kinds of vivid beautiful plants that butterfly's would like. 

Day 2

Our small world activity is where we looked at a 1x1 foot piece of ground and first stood away from it and looked at it, then kinda close and finally laying down to get a really close look at the piece of ground. Here's mine: From afar: it is green. Obviously composed of grass. There are a few flowers poking out but it is hard to make them out.
From a closer crouching distance: There seems to be different varieties of grass and there is a creature in the center of the grass. The flowers seem to be apart of the clover and next to this is the beginning of the rock nearby. There is a crack in the rock where a spider is hiding.
Laying down close: Roots of the grass are poking out of the ground along with dead pieces of grass under the alive stuff. All seems to be the same here although the creature has left. in this view the spider is clearly visible in the rocks crevice. It seems to be a normal jumping spider but is quite large. This spider was big enough to be photographed in fact, this is what I took as my example of the small world.

Day 1

Today was the start of our 2 week long Stemersion. Today in class we were introduced to the class and what we would be doing in class. After we did a team building activity to learn the people in our class and try to get along in a group situation. (Activity in picture!) After this we heard from a guest speaker named Steve Geysel talking about nature, stories relating too it and different ways to observe it. Finally after lunch/recess we went to the gym and discussed rules for the classroom. Later still I wrote my first blog entry, here!
